Winter 2018 Update

JANUARY 4, 2018

DEAR SMBC SUPPORTERS,

2017 was a humbling year for the Staff and Board of Directors at Short Mountain Bible Camp. It was humbling to step back and see God at work through His people and His word in the lives of young people. The summer season was as good as any in the past with over 50 young people who dedicated their lives to the Lord. Countless young people and adults were restored. In addition, nearly 1400 people enjoyed the experience that is Short Mountain Bible Camp.

We were also humbled by the amount of people that partnered with our vision to make SMBC possible. 2017 was a record breaking year in every measurable way in terms of fundraising and relationship building. We remain absolutely humbled with what God has entrusted us with through the generosity of his people. Individuals and churches were represented at 2 benefit dinners. Many sent in financial contributions through the mail. Others donated sweat equity into the SMBC campus. We remain humbled!

What all of that means for the 2018 camping season is that we can substantially invest into many buildings at SMBC. We wanted to let you know that we are planning for the following projects to be completed before you arrive for summer camp in 2018:

1. Blackhawk and Walnut are both currently being repaired. The floors under each bathroom are completely new with tile being installed. This will give both facilities more years to be used than we originally thought possible.

2. The metal fencing will be replaced with a permanent solution that will still allow for future expansion.

3. The gym will be painted.

4. The Mess Hall will receive an extensive outside renovation. The building will be wrapped in new wood, with careful consideration given to making it look original. It will also be stained.

As you can see, we are busy preparing and updating the facility because we believe in SMBC. We also believe in you! We thank God that you, our partners, are willing to be patient with us and will continue to support us in our vision. One request we do have, is that if you find it appropriate and are able, we are currently looking for fryers to replace the old ones that are located in the kitchen. Our prayer is that someone would help us with this project. Whether a fifth Sunday contribution or a special donation, we are hopeful that one of our partners would help us with this need.

We wish God’s blessing on your new year. Thank you for your continued support. Please continue to pray for us! We are praying for you!

Blessings,

SMBC Staff
